Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced at the I/O developer conference a new technology called Google Lens . The idea with the product is to leverage Google’s computer vision and AI technology in order to bring smarts directly to your phone’s camera.
Google tweeted: “With Google Lens, your smartphone camera won’t just see what you see, but will also understand what you see to help you take action.”
So you could point your camera at something and Google Lens would tell you what it is. A car’s brand, a restaurant’s rating or even a details about a model if you were to point to those objects with your phone.
Google Lens is also expected to be integrated with Assistant making a whole lot of tasks simpler and faster.
Although there’s no announced launch date for this new tech Pichai said this would be out with consumers ‘soon’.
